Alex Easton MLA has today visited the young girl in Bloomfield who was knocked down, and has today called for road calming measures for Ballyree Drive in Bloomfield Estate.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“There have been an on-going concern about road safety along Ballyree Drive for some time, and residents and parents have been expressing their concerns about road safety for their children. I have been calling for some time for road calming measures to be introduced to help protect the children attending Bloomfield Primary School and who are living in Bloomfield and have to use the Ballyree Drive to cross when going to and from school.”

“This latest incident has seen a young girl being knocked down on Ballyree Drive and being injured, she was very lucky not to have been killed. This comes on the back of the local community group and the school expressing deep concerns about road safety along Ballyree Drive. It is sad to say but their road safety concerns have been proven to be correct. I am today calling on Transport Northern Ireland to do an assessment, to look at the introduction of Road calming Measures for Ballyree Drive in Bloomfield as a matter of urgency. We don’t want to see another child being knocked down and possibly killed, it is time for action.”
