Alex Easton MLA has called for the Play Park at Shore Street Donaghadee to be cleaned after the play park was flooded by high seas.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“While nobody can foresee or even do much about the very high tides that swept over the sea defences at Donaghadee Harbour in Shore Street. There still needs to be action taken by the Ards & North Down Council to disinfect and clean the children’s play park. It is not simply good enough for the water to eventually go away it will need a good clean as we don’t know what was carried in the sea water as it flooded the play park. Making sure the play park is cleaned in an appropriate manor is a priority for the safety of the children of the area and it is important that the Council ensure this is done. We can be relieved that the flooding did not affect housing on this occasion at Shore Street, but this may need to be looked at for the long term as we see more of these extreme weather conditions effecting North Down.”
