Alex Easton MLA has today called for the removal of the loading bays on Main St and Bridge Street in Bangor.

Speaking today Alex Easton MA said:

“These loading bays have caused havoc for local drivers, and from a response to a NI Assembly question we see that there have been so far 78 parking tickets for one loading bay only. There are four loading bays between the top of Mains Street and Bridge Street in Bangor and drivers are not aware that having a marked loading bay area, means they cannot park there. There is also a very small sign above head height and most people do not see the signs. These loading bays have taken away much needed parking spaces from the Town Centre and are also effecting local businesses, they are meant to stop vans double parking but despite having loading bays at the rear of businesses some are still double parking and the whole concept of having a loading bay on Main Street and Bridge Street is just a mess, and is bad for business and shoppers and they need to go. I am today calling on Transport NI to review the situation as a matter of urgency and for these loading bays to be removed”
