Alex Easton MLA visited the Donaghadee Sewage and Waste Water Facility to see how the facility operates.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit the site and see how the facility is run. I was amazed at how big the place is, and that it only take nine people to run the whole thing. This facility takes the waste for Bangor, Donaghadee and Millisle and treats 400 l/s of raw sewage every day and can double this if need be.”

“The tour of the facility started off with a brief slide show of how the site works and health and safety rules, after being fitted with safety equipment we were taken on a tour of the site which started with the first stage were all the sewage comes in from surrounding pumping stations, this stage removes all unwanted items that should not be in the system. The Sewage is then screened and treated through various different stages until it is clean and fit to be pumped out to sea.”

“This was an important visit to see how our Water and Sewage system works and how important the site is for residents of North Down, and to appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes by staff that deserves a lot of praise.”
