Alex Easton MLA has reacted with deep concern at the announcement by the South Eastern Trust that they intend to temporally close the Bangor Minor Injury Unit and GP Ward at Bangor Hospital.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“This is shocking news and deeply worrying that the South Eastern Trust plan to temporally close the Bangor GP Ward and Minor Injury unit. I and deeply concerned at this announcement and cannot see how the third largest town in Northern Ireland can be left without this valuable service for a period of time. I welcome the fact that there will be no job losses, however this still leaves the issue that more pressures will be put on the Ulster Hospitals Accident and Emergency Unit and the Ards Hospital Minor Injury Unit. I will be seeking an urgent meeting with the Chief Executive of the South Eastern Trust and the Health Minister on the issue to explain what length of period these vital services will be closed for.”
