Alex Easton MLA is deeply appalled and angered as more IRA slogans are written across Bangor.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I am deeply appalled and angry that some immature and irresponsible person would want to spray an IRA Slogan on any wall in North Down, this is now the fifth such incident in weeks with the latest being in Banks Lane on the Groomsport Road, Bangor Elim Church and also Bangor Tech. There was also had the recent incident near to a public site at Pickie Fun Park, what in most concerning is the fact there is someone in Bangor trying to stir up sectarian tensions and that is totally unacceptable. In the whole time that I have lived in North Down I have never witnessed Graffiti with IRA slogans ever being written once but now five times, and I am deeply annoyed to come across this yet again, I condemn all paramilitary graffiti it is not wanted!. Not only is this unwanted and sad as it also costs the Rate Payers money to remove it. I will contact the Council to see what can be done to remove this as soon as possible, as we don’t want this sort of childish nonsense in North Down. I would also ask if anyone knows who is responsible to also report this to the PSNI and Council so the individuals responsible can be brought before the courts as this needs to stop and stop now.”
